Passage A is from a newspaper article.(500 more words not shown)

Passage A(7 more words not shown)

Passage B(500 more words not shown)

Which one of the following(13 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

We need the same distinction doing work in both texts. In A, the coins have a sale price, while other items have greater archaeological value. In B, sale and trade are contrasted with knowledge, protection, and proper management of the heritage. That gives us a shared contrast between money and cultural value.

Working the answers

  • A

A concentrates on a shipwreck without comparing wrecks with other forms of underwater heritage. B's broad definition doesn't make that a key distinction in both.

  • B

The documents themselves are a report about an agreement and a draft convention. That doesn't mean each document draws a distinction between agreements and international conventions.

  • C
    Correct

A weighs the project's financing against the archaeological value of its objects. B distinguishes commercial exploitation from the knowledge and preservation goals that justify activity. Both recognize values that aren't captured by what an artifact could sell for, though they handle the tension differently.

  • D

Government ownership matters in A's agreement, but B's requirements don't turn on a distinction between government and private owners. They concern how underwater heritage is treated.

  • E

Preservation at the original site versus recovery is explicit in B. A describes a recovery project and an argument over selling artifacts; it doesn't develop that same preserve-in-place alternative as a key distinction.
