Reading the passage
A is an article about one particular, innovative agreement. B lays out general rules for activities of that kind. The analogy should pair a report about a specific project with standards governing a broader class of projects.
What we’re looking for
The second document shouldn't merely describe how to carry out the one project mentioned in the first. That difference separates general rules from project specifications.
Working the answers
- A
The proposal and work specifications both concern the same individual project. The specifications don't play the role of B's general rules for underwater heritage.
- BCorrect
The magazine article about an innovative architectural proposal matches A's newspaper account of a new salvage arrangement. The building codes match B's general provisions: they apply to building projects as a class, rather than spelling out only that proposal's design.
- C
This does include a newspaper report of an agreement, but its second document is still the work specification for that particular project. Matching agreement isn't enough when the general-rule relationship is missing.
- D
The brochure and blueprints describe the same design. Blueprints explain what that project will look like; they aren't standards for projects of that kind.
- E
Both documents concern the particular proposal. An abstract description can still be specific to one project. We need rules with broader application, not just a less detailed description of the same design.
