Reading the passage
Recall the different scopes of our main points. A stays with honeybees and the mechanism of their communication. B places honeybees within a wider discussion that also includes vervet monkeys and briefly mentions other animals. That is a clear difference to check against the choices; we do not need to manufacture a disagreement between the writers.
Working the answers
- ACorrect
Every investigation in A concerns honeybee communication. B also discusses other forms, most substantially the monkeys' predator-specific alarm calls. Both halves of this comparison fit.
- B
B supplies evidence, not just unsupported claims. The recorded alarm calls and the lake experiment are described along with the animals' responses. That directly defeats the claim that B never discusses support.
- C
B is not entirely about honeybees, regardless of how recent its examples are. The substantial discussion of vervets is enough to rule this out.
- D
B introduces symbolic communication, but A does not make use of a symbolic-versus-nonsymbolic distinction. A contrast fails if either side inaccurately describes its account.
- E
B does not frame its animal examples as a way to understand human communication. That might be a further research interest, but it is not the purpose stated or developed here.
