Which one of the following(12 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

The wording is abstract: which general principle is the author using? We need a rule that fits the actual recommendation for improving the wool industry's productivity. Let's check the choices against that reasoning rather than invent a rule about good business practices in general.

Working the answers

  • A
    Correct

The industry is wool growing, and its most productive members are the successful farms discussed in paragraphs two and three. Adopting their techniques across the industry matches the proposed route to better productivity.

  • B

Copying successful farms isn't the same as requiring those farms to provide aid. No such requirement is proposed.

  • C

The author doesn't discuss what the industry should do after it has successfully improved productivity. This adds a later obligation.

  • D

The comparison with synthetics and cotton makes this tempting, but those industries are benchmarks for productivity gains. The practices to adopt belong to the leading wool growers, not to competing industries.

  • E

The recommendation is to learn from successful growers now. It isn't to return to practices from the industry's historical peak.
