Reading the passage

A isn't just reporting Borges's position from a distance. The author calls it a revealing observation about literature more broadly (Passage A, paragraph 1), explains the reader's essential role, and then draws the conclusion about genres. We should predict agreement: Borges's view becomes the basis for the author's own explanation.

Working the answers

  • A
    Correct

There is no expressed reservation or objection to Borges's view. The author presents it favorably and builds on it. Complete agreement fits the stance shown here; we don't need a statement about everything Borges ever believed.

  • B

Where is the reluctance? Accepting an idea reluctantly would require some sign that the author resists it, has reservations, or accepts it despite a concern. None appears.

  • C

Calling the view an insight and drawing a conclusion from it goes beyond neutrality. The author is endorsing the idea, not withholding judgment.

  • D

The author never questions whether Borges's account is sound.

  • E

This reverses the stance. The author uses Borges's view to explain literature rather than rejecting it.
