Reading the passage
Keep the order straight: A first, then B. A calls informed insider trades beneficial to all market participants (Passage A, paragraph 4). B says they unfairly compromise the market and could ultimately destroy it. We're looking for positive, then negative.
Working the answers
- A
B isn't neutral. The warnings about lost confidence and financial harm express a clear negative judgment.
- BCorrect
A favors these trades because of their informational benefits; B opposes them because of their unfairness and harmful consequences.
- C
This gets B right but makes A neutral. A argues that insider trades help the market.
- D
Neither author is neutral. Each builds an argument for a definite assessment.
- E
A is positive, not negative. The initial description of the law introduces the practice A then defends.
