Reading the passage

Customers are supposed to come onto the farm and harvest produce themselves. What would make one part of that arrangement easier? Something that helps customers reach the crops is a good prediction.

What we’re looking for

We don't need the suggested action to appear word for word in the description. We need a clear connection between the action and an actual feature of the plan.

Working the answers

  • A

Planting an unfamiliar crop to test the market works against the instruction to grow only what members request. Whatley wants established customer demand to guide production.

  • B
    Correct

Large lanes between crop plots would give customers access for harvesting. That directly supports the pick-your-own feature, including for visitors who need to move around the farm to collect their produce. It's a practical implementation of the plan, not a new business model.

  • C

Having the farmer take produce to a city market restores the traditional direction of travel. Whatley instead wants customers to come to the farm, harvest, and buy directly there.

  • D

A roadside stand offering already harvested produce doesn't put the harvesting work in customers' hands. An honor system changes how payment is collected, not who incurs the harvesting work and cost.

  • E

The instruction is to honor customers' chemical-use preferences. A farmer's independent decision to stop using chemicals for environmental reasons doesn't necessarily follow those preferences. The plan doesn't simply require a universal ban.
