Which one of the following(24 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

What are we matching? Davis has musicians improvise from some starting material, then builds a finished recording from the resulting tape. Our rough prediction is: gather source material, then edit and assemble it into a new work.

Working the answers

  • A

The producer supplies a framework and lets others create something. That's a promising beginning, but where is the later editing? Nobody assembles the resulting scripts into a new piece.

  • B

The actor improvises during a performance. Davis's process includes another step: building the final recording from the material afterward. Improvisation alone doesn't match that.

  • C

This is closer because separate parts are brought together. But these are sections rehearsing an existing piece, not contributors creating material that someone later edits into a new work. Keep it beside D and compare what each preserves.

  • D
    Correct

The assigned theme gives the photographers a starting framework, like the musicians' base script. They create the source material; the artist then assembles it into a collage. This improves on C by preserving the contributors' creative freedom as well as the later assembly. Both stages of Davis's method are here.

  • E

The teacher selects the best essays, but submits them as essays. That's choosing completed works, not taking pieces of the source material and combining them into a new one.
