Reading the passage
Our reading gave us this sequence: explain greenhouse warming, introduce conflicting evidence and uncertain forecasts, show why the possible range matters, then recommend a response. An organization answer needs to keep that uncertain middle in the picture; we don't simply announce a problem and jump straight to a solution.
Working the answers
- A
The disagreements concern the extent and effects of warming, not discrepancies among proposed solutions. This mislabels what occupies the middle of the discussion.
- B
The writer doesn't settle the scientific dispute by arguing for one side. The recommended policy is designed to work while uncertainty remains.
- CCorrect
Greenhouse warming is the phenomenon; the different temperature projections and their consequences are the differing views of its effects. The no-regrets policy then takes those differences into account. This matches the progression we mapped.
- D
We don't solve the scientific puzzle before discussing action. The point is how to act without having resolved it.
- E
No generally accepted formula is introduced and then challenged by an exceptional case. The opening explains a mechanism, and the later discussion examines uncertainty about its effects and an appropriate policy response.
