Reading the passage
The author calls it a “salutary shock” to realize how much ethnographic literature leaves out women's perspectives on women. The shock is useful because it exposes an omission, not because the omission is good. So we want criticism of the missing perspective.
What we’re looking for
Keep both parts of an answer in view: its attitude and the specific thing being evaluated. A word like surprising or disappointing can fit while the rest of the claim does not.
Working the answers
- A
The author doesn't admire avoiding feminist concerns. Nisa's contribution to understanding women's experience is treated as a strength.
- B
No encouraging trend among women ethnographers is reported. The author identifies a widespread omission; we don't learn that most women researchers have begun correcting it.
- CCorrect
This captures the objection: much of the literature does not include women's views of women. The author thinks that absence is a problem, which is why Nisa's perspective matters.
- D
The surprised attitude fits, but the interview-method claim doesn't. We aren't told that researchers possess relevant interview information and fail to use it. D supplies an explanation for the omission that the author never gives.
- E
This assumes studies already present women's views but fail to connect them with larger issues. The stated complaint comes earlier than that: the perspective itself is often missing. Incomplete connections and an absent perspective are different problems.
