Reading the passage
We've already predicted that we know more about okapis than we used to. Research has clarified their classification, numbers, and habits. But the ending isn't a declaration that the work is finished: we still have questions about where they live and why they feed where they do. Look for that development, not just one discovery.
Working the answers
- A
Radio tracking helped answer the population question. It doesn't cover the classification research or the further questions raised at the end. This makes one method sound like the whole story.
- B
This describes the original puzzles, then stops. What about the answers zoologists have since found? Most of the discussion comes after this starting point.
- CCorrect
This adds the needed qualification to our initial prediction. We've answered some questions, but there is more to investigate. The final paragraph asks why okapis avoid forest edges and why they remain absent from other seemingly suitable forests.
- D
This covers tracking and apparent scarcity. Those are important, but they don't encompass classification or the new questions in the final paragraph.
- E
Unanswered questions remain, but we aren't told that most of the original questions remain unanswered. We now know the closest relatives and why infrequent encounters needn't mean a tiny population. E loses the progress the account describes.
