Passage B(211 more words not shown)

Which one of the following(22 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

We've already identified the relationship: A outlines principles for just ownership and correcting injustice; B discusses Native American land claims in a way that fits those principles. We need purposes broad enough to cover that work, not merely one shared topic.

What we’re looking for

A provides the general framework. B supplies a real situation and a possible moral argument about what should happen to the land.

Working the answers

  • A

Rectification does concern a moral problem, but B is not chiefly criticizing a proposed solution. It presents a case for returning land and acknowledges practical limits. That is different from attacking the proposal.

  • B
    Correct

A sketches a branch of moral theory concerning property: acquisition, transfer and rectification. B gives a particular moral analysis of land claims. Those descriptions capture both the general-to-specific relationship and what each author actually does.

  • C

A names two fundamental principles without spelling out their detailed rules. B also describes alleged wrongful transfers, not a case in which a moral ideal has been realized. A violation of a principle does not exemplify ideal compliance with it.

  • D

A outlines a framework rather than arguing for adopting a particular moral ideal, and B does not question that framework's assumptions. Its land-restoration reasoning is broadly consistent with the framework.

  • E

B is not a counterexample to the principles. Wrongful taking creates a need for rectification under A's theory; it does not show that the theory is false.
