Which one of the following(17 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

Larger scale allows more specialization, and that specialization makes production more efficient. That's the Pin Factory relationship we need to transfer. It isn't enough for an answer to contain a big group, more output, or any improvement in productivity. The improvement needs to come from the advantage made possible by greater scale.

Working the answers

  • A

Relaxing editing standards makes the editors more productive and allows the publisher to employ fewer of them. The cause is a change in standards, not increased size enabling greater specialization.

  • B
    Correct

A large colony can dedicate some bees to guarding nectar sources instead of making every bee perform every task. That division of labor helps it collect more nectar, support more bees, and divide the processing work further. This matches the factory's size-to-specialization-to-efficiency relationship.

  • C

Year-round scheduling makes room for more students in the same building. Increased capacity is the result of changing the schedule; a larger student body isn't causing the improved efficiency. The causal direction doesn't match.

  • D

Better trap technology increases the catch with the same number of traps. That's an efficiency gain, but technology produces it. Nothing says larger scale creates the advantage.

  • E

More ants can exist after the colony splits into several colonies. That is an advantage of dividing into separate groups, not a single larger group becoming more efficient through specialization. Bigger combined numbers alone don't establish the relationship we need.
