Which one of the following(9 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

We've already predicted Typhlodromus as an example of effective pest control through predation. I also included the contrast with a pesticide that removes the predator. Now we need the central idea, without turning this example into a rule for every pest.

Working the answers

  • A

The opening says “Sometimes.” This answer makes a broad claim about the most effective and safest way to control agricultural pests. One case in which a pesticide makes things worse doesn't establish that general ranking.

  • B

The experiments support the biological example. The main point isn't that experimental verification is essential, and the writer doesn't make that requirement.

  • C
    Correct

This connects the two mites to the broader point: natural predation can control agricultural pests. It doesn't mention the pesticide explicitly, but it captures what the example demonstrates.

  • D

The specific mite names and strawberry fields make this sound close. But “essential” says control requires Typhlodromus; we haven't ruled out every other predator or possible method. It also leaves out the role of this relationship as an example of a broader phenomenon. More specific isn't automatically more accurate.

  • E

Reproduction helps explain the predator's effectiveness, but this elevates part of the second paragraph into the whole point. It leaves out the broader pest-control lesson and other helpful features, such as surviving when prey is scarce.
