Which one of the following(10 more words not shown)

Reading the passage

The second paragraph walks through the fruit fly, the nematode, frogs, and mammals. In each case, the point is how polarity gets established—or, for mammals, what remains unknown. I expect an answer about illustrating different ways this early stage works.

Working the answers

  • A
    Correct

The examples develop the diversity announced in the opening paragraph: pre-fertilization signals in the fly, sperm-driven cues in other organisms, and a later, unresolved process in mammals.

  • B

The fruit fly–nematode comparison is only part of the paragraph. This leaves out the discussion of frogs and mammals and is too narrow to describe the whole job.

  • C

The paragraph says the human mechanism isn't understood. It doesn't explain why scientists haven't figured it out, and that final observation isn't the paragraph's entire focus.

  • D

The opening asserts that polarity is necessary, but this paragraph doesn't establish why. Its examples concern how polarity occurs differently.

  • E

The writer doesn't classify all polarity mechanisms into two main types. Several examples and an unresolved case don't establish that two-category system.
